Tearing through the metal

With the rear sill in, Trevor was able to weld into place the left rear quarter panel and the lip that carries the quarter panel over the inside wheel well. There wasn't much cancer rust other than that which resulted from the welds rusting, but the rear sill in these old Fj40s are notorious for rotting away and this truck was no exception.

Here's a better look at the quarter panel installed. You can see where he is making his welds resemble spot welds by drilling through the metal in one piece and then filling the hole in and connecting to the metal beneath.

Here's a shot of the rear sill, which you can see on the right where the old right quarter panel has been cut away. The rear of the tub sits on that sill, which in turn sits on the cross member of the frame on a pair of body mounts.
